The Burning Man festival is a massive week long festival that is held out in the Black Rock Desert in the northern parts of Nevada. While our local version started only in 2007, Burning Man started out in 1986 out in Baker Beach with only a handful of people. Close on thirty years later Burning Man has had to limit the amount of tickets that it sells to only 50 000 which sell out quickly.

The festival is famous for its art, music and culture. Epitomizing the ideas of self-expression and self-reliance, Burning Man is a cultural event where virtually anything goes (as long as it is inline with the ten principles) and nothing is for sale – with the exception of a few vital supplies like petrol and coffee, virtually everything is bartered or given away for free at Burning Man.

Like our version, the week long event culminates in the burning of a gigantic effigy that signals that the festival is done for the year. Over the years the Man has grown taller and taller and some of the versions standing at over 100 feet tall.

2014’s Burning Man is especially exciting for Tentickle as this is the first year that some of our tents will be over there helping people stay cool in the hot desert sun. Stay tuned for more details!
