Over the years, our Tentickle teams have been involved in the organising and set-up of many weddings – from big, flashy nuptials on polo estates, to intimate backyard celebrations and everything in between. As such, we have quite a bit of insight regarding the building blocks of a well-planned wedding, and by now we know that it all starts with choosing the right date.
Here are a few tips to help you choose the perfect wedding date for your big day:
Determine Your Must-Haves & Deal Breakers
First of all, sit down and make a list of your must-haves and deal breakers. E.g. you want to get married in a lush rose garden by your favourite minister and you want to wear a sleeveless dress. If these are your must-haves, you’re looking at late spring or summer. Naturally, you’ll also have to check in with your minister to see if they are available on the date you have in mind. Alternatively, a deal breaker would be the fact that important family members are away on a trip, or your dream photographer has another engagement on the day. Once you know which factors are non-negotiable, you’ll be a whole lot closer to choosing your date.
Give Yourself More Time Than You’ll Think You’ll Need
If there is one thing we know, it’s that a wedding always takes a lot more planning than you think it will. There are bound to be all sorts of curveballs along the way, so if there is no rush on your timeline, give yourself a generous amount of time to pull it all together. In fact, the longer the better. Discuss the matter with your partner and see how long you are willing to wait to tie the knot. A roomier timeline not only gives you time to source all the perfect elements to compliment your day, it also gives you some breathing room to save up for extra expenses that crop up along the way.
Don’t Be Scared of Low & Shoulder Season
Summertime may be the darling of brides the world over, but in some parts of the world, wonderful weather is enjoyed all year round. Depending on where you plan to get hitched, you might as well take advantage of the lower venue hire fees and accommodation destinations that become available over the low and shoulder seasons like winter and fall. In cases like these, all you really need is a sturdy tent to provide cover to fend off rain or wind, and we just so happen to know where you can find some of those…
Keeping these guidelines in mind when you select the date for your wedding will make the process a lot easier. In the meantime, feel free to reach out to a Tentickle team in your part of the world if you would like to know more about our wedding stretch tent solutions and more – we’re happy to share our expertise in the lead-up to your big day.
