Our Top Five European Summer Festivals

Stretch Tents are Perfect for Festivals

As the sun sets on summer we decided to have a look as some of the top festivals held across the European continent. Not only are these festivals the perfect place for revellers to soak up fun in the summer sun, they are also the perfect place for our brand of stretch bedouin tents.

With representatives in countries across Europe from Albania to the United Kingdom, and everywhere in between, we have been lucky enough to set up at some major festivals over the years, but have also been privileged to set up at those smaller, slightly off the beaten track events too.

Summer is festival time across Europe and whether you are into rock ‘n roll, techno, trance or dub step there is a festival for you. While we have not necessarily been involved in the festivals in this list, having been in the industry for years we know how to spot the good ones! Here’s our list of this year’s top five:

  1. The Insane Festival near Avignon in France is one of the smaller festivals, but that is not to say that it should be underestimated. Boasting both outdoor and indoor areas, this is a feast for the senses. With some of the best state of the art visuals, cutting edge music and a venue that delivers, it should definitely be on your calendar for next year. It has been on our radar because of it’s versatile venue – a combination of indoor and outdoor spaces are ideal set ups for our stretch bedouin tents. The ease of setup and the fact that the tents can be anchored to existing structures means that Insane the perfect place to see at stretch tent.
  2. From the little to the HUGE. Glastonbury Festival is by far the biggest music festival in the UK, and is internationally renowned. A bucket-list must for ANY music fan, it is definitely worth the pilgrimage. Hosting huge headliners over the years, including Bruce Springsteen, Muse, Adele, the Verve, Nick Cave, Amy Winehouse, Elvis Costello and Carl Cox to name but a very few, the otherwise small town of Glastonbury quite literally rocks! We love the idea of stretch tents at Glastonbury for chill areas and places of communal gathering. The festival is spread over a vast area, so where better to stop to take it in, rest on your way to the Prism stage or just catch up with fellow festivaliers than under a stretch tent?
  3. Glade Festival is a mecca for lovers of electronica. Whether it be trance or trip hop, house or hip hop, techno or two-step there’s something for every dance genre here. The festival grew from a side stage at Glastonbury to become an event in its own right. The perfect place for stretch bedouin tents, Glade is a veritable feast of eye catching decor, foot stomping tunes and British festivals at their best. Whether you’re dancing into the early hours to your favourite DJs, chilling and taking in the scenery or resting your weary limbs, you wouldn’t be surprised to find a stretch tent or two in the festival village.
  4. For something totally different we like Exit Festival in Serbia. Not only is this a rocking music festival, but it was established after the country’s violent and bloody war by the student movement who were striving for a new future for the war torn country. What started off as a small event that was intended as an attempt of reconciliation and healing in a broken country is now one of the hottest tickets of the summer. Two hundred thousand people descend on the small town of Novi Sad, to the Petrovaradin Fortress. The festival has a very strong social mission to garner support and awareness for young Balkans who have been adversely affected by the war. With a multitude of stages representing different genres, this is a firm favourite. The banging beats and the beating sun all add to the atmosphere. What better place to enjoy the tunes while keeping cool than under the roof of a stretch tent, partying for peace in a once savage land.
  5. Nothing says summer like non stop sunshine…. That’s why the Secret Solstice in Iceland is a summer music festival like no other. Truly magnificent vistas married with sunshine at midnight make for a magical musical event. As part of this year’s event live acts performed inside a volcano, and although the tickets were pretty pricey and limited to only 20, this one really was a once in a lifetime experience. For those not looking to blow the bank, the regular festival saw a host of DJs performing in a glacier and thermal pool. Headlined by Radiohead and Die Antwoord, this festival highlights the natural beauty of the Icelandic scenery. This is a perfect environment for a stretch bedouin tent as they can be set up in such a way that they provide shelter and shade while still maximising the amazing scenic surrounds.

We are very sad to see summer go, but look forward in eager anticipation to what 2017 has in store, and hope to see you at some of these amazing festivals.
