5 New Year’s Eve Destinations To Put on Your Bucket List

At Tentickle, we spend a fair share of our time assisting businesses in the venue and celebration industries to create gorgeous spaces for elegant parties. As such, we’ve been privy to quite a few epic shindigs in our time. It’s hard to pick favourites, but New Year’s Eve has a way of inspiring pretty glamorous events. Here are a few international cities where we wouldn’t mind to pitch a tent or two to watch the NYE partygoers go by:

AMSTERDAM

Amsterdam

Amsterdam

Amsterdam is all about fireworks, dance and music. Outdoor festivities take place on the Oosterdok, Rembrandtplein and Nieuwmarkt. Keen for a something a little different? Book a cruise along the city’s canals or join in a masquerade ball. TOP TIP: Line your stomach with some tasty Dutch street food like bitterballen before!

EDINBURGH

Edinburgh

Edinburgh

Scotland’s capital simultaneously embraces ancient ritual and parties up a storm on the cusp of the new year. It’s home to Hogmanay – Scotland’s famous NYE festival, which consists of no less than three days of live events and music from artists from around the world. Alternatively, there are less rambunctious options like the annual candlelit concert at St. Giles’ Cathedral.

FLORENCE

Florence

Florence

Florence is an excellent option if you like to wander around from one occasion to the next, enjoying free entertainment. There is a big concert at the city’s historical centre each year and offerings that range from EDM to gospel, swing and classic music concerts throughout the city.

NEW YORK CITY

New York

New York

New York is a hub of activity around NYE. Most of the excitement centres around Times Square, where famous artists provide entertainment and the world-renowned 12-foot-wide crystal ball descends atop One Times Square as the year ticks over into the next.

RIO DE JANEIRO

Rio de Janeiro

Rio de Janeiro

Rio is home to the boisterous Réveillon NYE party that takes place on the iconic Copacabana Beach, with 2 million+ revellers in attendance each year. Expect oceanfront stages with live music and dance performances, plenty of fireworks and locals dressed in white tossing flowers in the sea (it is said to bring good luck).

These are just a few of the wonderful places around the globe where you can celebrate one year passing into the next. Naturally, you can also do it at home. TOP TIP: Host a destination party under your stretch tent or shade sail at home! Choose a country or city as inspiration, decorate according to the theme and invite your guests to dress up as well. There’s nothing quite like a theme party to get things going. Happy holidays everyone, we’ll be back in 2018 with more tips, trends, advice and other fun stuff to read.
