3 Stunning Outdoor Wedding Venues – Amsterdam
Amsterdam is one of those cities that holds a spot of honour on the bucket list of almost all world travellers, and with good reason – it’s bustling metropolis filled to the rafters with all things spectacular. Think topsy-turvy gabled buildings, museums full of art and treasures from around the globe, epic design at every turn and gorgeous green spaces that just beg to be discovered.
As such, one can imagine why so many bridal parties are flocking to the capital of the Netherlands to say their vows. Pllek
Pllek is ideal for rustic, laid-back celebrations. The urban beach can be reached via a short ferry ride from Amsterdam. The area was pretty industrial up until recently, but the wharf has been reclaimed by artistic citizens who have turned it into a thriving creative community, dressed in exceptional urban art. Say your ‘I do’s’ on the terrace with the city skyline as your backdrop, or head indoors to a private reception venue if the weather is acting up.
Pont 13
Pont 13 is also situated right on the water (as many Amsterdam venues tend to be!). This historic steam ferry has been around since the 1920s and was rescued from demolition when it was turned into a function hall. It still boasts its original industrial fittings and features, which makes for a great backdrop for all sorts of interesting indoor/outdoor weddings.
West Indisch Huis
West Indisch Huis is the former HQ of the Dutch West India Company and it’s just as swanky as you’d imagine it to be. There are 4 different function rooms to choose from, and the courtyard is available for outdoor celebrations on sunny days.
DID YOU KNOW? If you want to save some money instead of hosting a fancy wedding, you can do so in Amsterdam on Tuesdays! The City of Amsterdam conducts free basic ceremonies on Tuesdays, but there are a few prerequisites. E.g. you can’t have any more than 20 guests, and music and personal speeches won’t fly either. Just a quick in and out then!
